06/30/2012 Offshore Fishing Report Palm Beach
Took out Andrew and some friends to find a steady North wind but the waves were around 2'. We decided to troll to see if we could pick up a Wahoo or a Sail but could not keep the Bonito and Cuda's off the line. We drifted in about 200' and picked up several more Bonito but the prize of the day was a Sailfish hooked on freelined ballyhoo. The sail danced for a few minutes before I let the line get spooled. We even had a sign from the fishing gods telling us to go towards the only cloud in the sky that so happened to resemble a Sailfish. After the disappointment instead of calling it quits we kept going at it and got into a school of Mahi. The fishing gods repaid me for my earlier mistake and we boated 5. The north wind helped the fishing and there was finally a strong current. Full moon was approaching and there were not many weeds even after Tropical Storm Debby tormented us for days.
