05/25/2014 Offshore Fishing Report Palm Beach

Andrew, Sir Snaps Alot, D-Rock and me hit the inlet bright and early and found very calm seas. We headed north to the pier to try and catch bait but the bait was very spooked by the 30 boats chasing them. A few boats were loading up but we were not one of them. We caught some bonita as usual and headed about 12 miles offshore to see if we could scrounge up some dolphin. Weeds were very scattered at best and there was not much debris in the water so we struck out there. We came back in and picked up some bottom fish and then the big one hit. Andrew fought a fish for 2 hours on the Penn Slammer. 15lb test and +/-75-100lb fish do not mix well when trying to pull it off the bottom. We gave it a try before the line finally snapped 2 hours in. We believe it was an amberjack however it will always be known for the mystery fish that got away! Pics to come later!
